Intro to Daughter of the Moon

I wrote a Singaporean version of this Japanese tale known as The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter.

Roughly it’s about a bamboo cutter who finds a baby in a bamboo shoot and adopts her but later finds out she really comes from the moon.

My version is called Daughter of the Moon. This is part of a local initiative called Once Upon a Time in Singapore, where writers are invited to submit local versions of fairy tales, and add stuff more in line with local context.

So below is the 2000 word story. If any non-Singaporeans read this I hope if you don’t know the legends mentioned that you’ll at least be moved by the actual story itself. I found it kinda sad.๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
